This June. The US National Weather Service of Tucson, Arizona announced that Tucson is reaching the top 110° – 113 this year. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) explain how to protect your skin from the sun due to the damage towards the skin cells.
In Arizona, UV rays are usually stronger in the summer compared to other states. That is why if the UV index predicts the intensity of three or more it is extremely important to protect the skin.
Mainly avoid exposure to UV rays between nine a.m. to three p.m. or on cloudy days. At the same time, always look for shade wherever you are, like using an umbrella or shade near a tree.
If possible, wear long-sleeved shirts, skirts, and pants. The same with wearing clothing with dark colors due to its protection. Hats or caps are key because they cover the face, ears, and the back of the neck. In case your hat or cap does not have the best coverage, apply sunscreen, or stay in the shade.
The sunscreen application should indicate SPF 15 or more and must be applied to all exposed areas of the skin before and after being in the sun and every two hours. CDC indicates that the expiration date for sunscreen lasts for three years.
Just as important it is to protect our skin; it is essential to take care of our eyes and sunglasses block UV rays. Remember protecting the skin from the sun is the key to prevention.
