The pre-application period for the City of Tucson’s waitlist for public housing and Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) will close at the end of the day at 11:59 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23. All applications received in the three-week period, which began Jan. 3, will be placed in a lottery. This ends the first stage. A lottery will be done every month thereafter for placement on the waitlist.
There still is time to submit a pre-application. Applications are available in English, Arabic, Cantonese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Swahili, and Vietnamese. In addition, assistance is available in alternative formats, such as paper applications, large print, braille, or translation/interpreting services. For individuals and families who do not have access to a computer or smartphone, public computers are available at all Pima Public Libraries and the following City of Tucson Recreation Centers:

In addition, the City of Tucson’s Housing Department, 310 N. Commerce Park Loop, will be open today Friday and Monday until 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for in-person assistance to complete the application.
To pre-apply, applicants will not be required to provide social security numbers or any form of payment. Applicants will need to provide name, address, date of birth, preferred way to be contacted (phone or email), information on family members, and household income. Pre-application should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. All completed pre-applications will receive a confirmation number, which the applicant should save. One application may be submitted per household.
