Casino Del Sol’s 12th Annual Tucson Tamal & Heritage Festival Presented by Food City
Celebrate the rich tastes, smells and variations of tamales from the Southwest and Mexico at the 12th Annual Tucson Tamal & Heritage Festival! Held every year on the first Saturday of December, this unique festival has become a Tucson tradition, marking the beginning of the holiday season.
Join us on Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at AVA Amphitheater for this free, open to the public event. Enjoy live Tejano and mariachi bands, DJs, Azteca and Folklorico dancers. Check out our Artisan goods including jewelry, bead work, art, and more. You can also enjoy our Farmers Market vendors who will have t-shirts, soaps made of goats milk, dried fruit and countless other items. Last but not least, you can indulge on tacos, fry bread, desserts, aguas frescas, roasted corn and of course tamales!
Think you make the best tamales in town? Come on out to participate as a vendor and enter the celebrated tamale contest. The contest is judged in four categories: traditional red, green corn, gourmet and sweet. Cash prizes from $150 to $500 are given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category, with the top prize of $750 going to the best all-around tamale winner.
