Women’s Equality Day: Celebrating Women’s Achievements
Every August 26, Women’s Equality Day is observed in the United States, a date that recognizes the fight for equal rights and opportunities for women. This day commemorates the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which granted American women the right to vote.
More than looking to the past, this celebration invites us to value women’s contributions in the family, education, science, business, and the community. It’s also a chance to teach new generations the importance of respect, equality, and mutual support.
Everyone can help build a future with more opportunities: by listening, learning, recognizing talents, and encouraging girls and women to pursue their dreams. Equality starts with small acts of respect every day.
