Good afternoon, Tucson. I’m Mayor Regina Romero here with your Thursday updates.
Yesterday, Governor Ducey issued an Executive Order extending Arizona’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected Executive Order until May 15, 2020, with some modifications. The order also allows certain businesses to begin partial operations starting next week. As eager as I am to reopen our economy, it is important that we do so in a safe and consistent manner that follows the advice of public health experts. The Pima County Health Department has also established criteria for a phased re-opening, which we have not met yet . I look forward to working with Governor Ducey to promote the safety and well-being of Arizonans during these difficult times.
I will also be extending my local emergency proclamation to May 15thto align with the Governor’s Executive order, and will be sharing the full document with you shortly.
Tucson Parks and Recreation has postponed registration for summer activities, including leisure classes, swim lessons, therapeutic programs, and youth and teen programs. Staff is delaying registration for these activities until they have better information and guidance on program operation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Planning and Development Services Department have announced changes to their digital customer service counter providing same-day reviews, transitioning all inspections to remote video inspections, and upgrading the website to make it easier to submit plans electronically and pay fees online.
