Tucson’s 250th Birthday Murals – Now Going Up Downtown!
TUCSON, AZ, May 28, 2025 – A vibrant new public art project is underway in Downtown Tucson to celebrate the city’s 250th birthday and honor over two millennia of cultural history. As part of a public art project sponsored by Mayor Regina Romero’s Office, Rio Nuevo, Visit Tucson, Downtown Tucson Partnership, and the Presidio Museum the murals, created by local artists Ignacio García, Joe Pagac, Camila Ibarra, and Pen Macías, represent different stages of Tucson’s history, from its Native American roots to the modern city. Each mural will include the official 250th anniversary logo and information about the origin of the name “Tucson.”
The murals will be completed by June 30, 2025, and can now be visited to view their progress live.
