Richard and Mary Fimbres are the epitome of community leadership. Richard Fimbres has served our nation and Pima County, as a 27 ½-year Veteran (Retired), from the U.S. Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserve, as well as a 32-year Veteran of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Richard has also served for 12 ½ years as a Governing Board Member for Pima Community College. Mary Fimbres served Tucson as a Council Aide, for more than 20 years, to two Council Offices and helped to bring programs and projects to Tucson’s South side. Richard and Mary were two of the co-founders of the League of United Latin American Citizens Youth Leadership Conference, which has taken place for the past 30 years with more than 120,000 students attending the Conference. Richard and Mary believe that “Education is the Key to Success,” and they work on other community efforts to help students stay in school.
Richard and Mary Fimbres have been married for 42 years and have two wonderful sons, Richard Michael and Joseph Terrance, two beautiful daughters-in-law, Vanessa and Ariel and an awesome grandson, Roman. They are also have a Boston Terrier named Celtie.
