The Best Of Two Worlds

One year since the massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas

This past May 24 marked one year since the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where an armed man brutally murdered 19 children and 2 teachers, leaving also 17 injured and an entire community devastated.

It was the third deadliest school shooting in United States history. The caliber of the weapon used, a rifle styled after the ArmaLite AR-15 by the gun manufacturer Daniel Defense, left the bodies and faces of the victims horribly mangled, especially those of the children.

None of the children killed were older than 11.

Though Congress approved a law expanding background checks and psychological evaluations for people under 21 when purchasing a weapon, nothing was done regarding the weapons themselves, falling far from proposing a comprehensive solution to gun violence in the United States, which has turned into an everyday occurrence in the short-lived memory of the average American.
