In October of 2022, the Mexican government established a lawsuit in the United States against several gun manufacturers to which it attributes the intake of illegal arms through its northern border. After being dismissed by a federal court in Boston, Massachusetts the first time, Mexico launched a second lawsuit in another federal court in the District of Arizona, which itself is under the Ninth Circuit.
The judge in charge of the case, Cindy Jorgenson, issued an order cancelling the hearing scheduled for August 28th, 2023, adding that she was “considering excusing herself from hearing the present litigation.”
