The Best Of Two Worlds

Editor´s letter

Dear readers,

The temperatures are at their peak this month of July. I advise you to keep safe as much as you can, wearing light clothing and being careful with children, seniors, pets, and plants. Wear sunscreen at all times, drink plenty of liquids – especially water – and save energy during peak hours. The temperatures will not go down – a dry and scorching summer is expected.

Are you planning your vacations? We know that the prices of lodging, flights, gas, and food and other unexpected expenses are at their highest. If you can’t travel, we recommend local or regional options instead, particularly in Arizona where its down season and there’s specials and options for everyone. Local hotels and attractions, national parks, lakes, museums, zoos, going hiking or camping are only a few of the many choices that exist. We recommend you go to Visit Tucson (www.visittucson.org) and Southern Arizona Attractions Alliance (www.tucsonattractions.com).

In this edition, you’ll be able to find the Guía del Monzón (Monsoon Guide), which is a collaboration with our friends at Telemundo Arizona. You can find very important and valuable information about the monsoon in our print edition and you can download it on our website, www.azbilingual.com

We are very excited for our 12th Annual Back to School Expo, which we offer every year to the children and families of our community for their return to school. Thank you to Arizona Bilingual Newspaper, SAABE AZ, and Latinas AZ for their participation in this.

In addition to a group of presenters, volunteers, organizations, and collaborators that make this incredible event possible, we will be providing up to 2,000 backpacks, school supplies, community resources and information, and giveaways completely for free. Furthermore, we will count with top-class entertainment with dances, singers, musical groups, school bands, and many surprises more!

The event will take place on Thursday, July 27 at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC), exhibition halls A and B, from 4 to 8 PM. This is a free event for the entire community. For sponsorship, donations, and to partake in the event, contact us at (520) 305-4110 or info@newsazb.com. We hope to see you there, don’t miss it!
