Grab your towel and sunscreen because pools opened on May 28, Pima County’s nine public pools open. Five pools will remain open until at least August 2. Due to a shortage of lifeguards, all nine locations will be closed each Friday and Sunday.

In addition to being a fun activity during the summer, the pools offer swim lessons for children under six months, a swim team for novices ages 5-18, and a Junior Lifeguard Program for teens ages 11-15.

Swim lessons are provided in eight classes with two-week sessions. The first session begins on Monday, June 6. Sessions are $20 per person and can be registered beginning May 10 at www.pima.gov/pools

Swim equipment is available at all Pima County pools except Picture Rocks Pool. The cost is $20 for the entire summer, and includes all practices and competitions. Visit www.pima.gov/swimteam  to register online. Registration will continue until June 11 or until the pool reaches capacity.

The first swim practice is June 6th. The competitions are on Saturday mornings or evenings in June and July and will continue until the championship on July 30.
