If 90% of the population used face masks, transmission of Covid-19 would decrease to 60%

If 90% of the population use the face masks whenever they leave home, the number of infections would decrease up to 60%, says Dr. Laurie Ann Ximénez-Fyvie, head of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics at UNAM in Mexico.

 According to the doctor of medical sciences, the use of a face mask should be compulsory and whoever does not comply with this measure would have to be fined or even serve time in jail, since it is not only to protect themselves, but others in the case of being asymptomatic.

 For the doctor graduated from Harvard University, the Health authorities must concentrate their efforts on the containment of the virus, that is, detect and isolate the asymptomatic patients who represent 40% of the infections, through the massive application of tests and cut the propagation chains.

 She added that early medical attention should be given to those infected through oximetry tests and, when presenting a decrease in oxygen in the blood, start treatment with anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory drugs to avoid hospitalization and even death.

 She considered that if the Federal Government and the governments in the world do not put in place containment measures, a “catastrophic” scenario is approaching, since the number of deaths will continue to increase
