The term person with different or special abilities is erroneous, since we all have different abilities, just as we should never name them as disabled. Getting rid of prejudices and fears is the path towards the naturalization of this type of relationships, by referring to these people without perpetuating gestures that tend to exclusion and marginalization.
Acting with empathy and approach, in an open, friendly and respectful treatment of their rights and without compassion will be what will invite communication based on equal conditions and opportunities.
Address them directly, spontaneously, offering our help, if required, such as; Let me know if you need help, open up the possibility of choosing for them.” When addressing the companion, it is a discriminatory attitude and a form of violence by conceiving the person from the point of view of failure or shortcoming and not as a subject of rights. It is crucial to foster their capabilities and strengths and encourage them through the attitudes and dialogues we maintain towards them, emphasizing what they can do instead of what they cannot.
“Interacting with a person with a disability does not have to be a challenge”, we will collaborate with a more inclusive society where all people are welcome.
