Dear Readers,
September arrives with much to celebrate and remember. The temperatures begin to drop, and we start to see hints of autumn colors. This month, we remember the 3,000 people who died on September 11, 2001, in the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, now 23 years ago. This tragic event not only left a scar in the minds of Americans but was also one of the defining events of an entire decade, influencing everything from the Iraq War to the militarization of the border.
On the other hand, September is also a month of celebration for millions of Latin Americans who celebrate their respective patriotic months. Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Honduras dress in the colors of their flags to celebrate their independence days. For Mexicans, 214 years have passed since the revolution that freed them from the crown of New Spain. Let us celebrate everything that fills us with pride for our country—its music, culture, indigenous peoples, rich gastronomy, landscapes, and more. Let all Mexicans around the world join in this great celebration.! VIVA MÉXICO!
I also want to take this opportunity to invite all our readers to join us at the various events happening from September through December this fall and winter. There will be many informative, cultural, entertaining, educational, health-related, and recreational events. Stay tuned to our editions and social media platforms for updates on these events, which will fortunately take place in better weather. Upcoming events include “Tu Bebé & You” on Saturday, September 28, and “The Walk for the Fight Against Breast Cancer” on Sunday, October 20, at Rudy Garcia Park.
