Arizona Governor, Doug Ducey implemented a ban on abortions that are based on genetic abnormalities. in Arizona on Tuesday April 27, 2021 what this means is if a woman wants to have an abortion done, their reasoning that their child might be born with a genetic abnormality is no longer an acceptable reason. Some of the genetic abnormalities include Down syndrome or cystic fibrosis and many other. If a doctor is caught performing abortions based on genetic abnormalities, they could face time in prison. Doug Ducey is a Republican and conservative Governor and says, “There’s immeasurable value in every single life — regardless of genetic makeup,” Ducey says “We will continue to prioritize protecting life in our preborn children, and this legislation goes a long way in protecting real human lives.” A spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona said that group and others are considering a legal challenge to the governors ban. The bill is due to take effect 90 days after the legislature adjourns for the year.
