You might think May 13 will just be another indistinguishable day in your home quarantine marathon, but that’s just not true.
It’s also the 34th anniversary of the theatrical release of “Top Gun,” and some people (not all of them marketing reps) have decided to celebrate the day in the style of “Stars Wars” on May 4th or “Talk Like a Pirate” Day in September.
Yep, May 13 is the day when you put on your aviator shades and jumpsuits and talk like Maverick, Goose or Iceman all day. Or maybe you’re homeschooling and you end up as more of a Viper as you try to corral your kids to focus on their work. You can always organize some socially distanced volleyball in the backyard. There are no rules! Make things up as you go!
Whatever you do, make sure you get social media credit by taking a photo and tagging your post with the hashtag #TopGunDay so the topic trends and you don’t feel like you’re out there playing jet fighter all by yourself.
Even if you don’t want to do the Top Gun cosplay, there are thousands of GIFs, dozens of iconic quotes and even custom Zoom backgrounds from the upcoming sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” (now slated for a Dec. 23 release) to liven up your day.
