Haircuts and Salons can resume this week in Arizona; dining to follow

Starting this Friday, May 8, Arizona residents can once again get haircuts and visit salons that have been closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey made the announcement yesterday, May 4, while also saying that starting Monday, May 11, you can once again eat inside many of your favorite restaurants.

All businesses that choose to open will have restrictions, such as capacity limits, physical distancing policies, and the use of masks.

In some cases, depending on the size of the business, appointments may be required. During yesterday’s announcement, Ducey also said he intends to allow fitness studios and gyms to reopen, but he did not release a timeline for that to happen.

Similarly, pools at apartment complexes, hotels, and motels will soon reopen, he said, as will bars, movie theaters, and other businesses. Ducey did not mention tattoo shops and massage studios.

The governor said COVID-19 is “on the downward trajectory,” and his stay-at-home order issued more than a month ago remains in place, at least until May 15.
