OVERVIEW
Staff at Chiricahua National Monument in partnership with members from the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association (TAAA) will be hosting the annual spring night sky special event Friday, April 12, 2024, from 7:30-9:30 pm at the Faraway Ranch parking lot, 1 mile beyond the park entrance.
Visitors may expect to see a variety of sky objects at this International Dark Sky Park. The Orion Nebula will be making its final bow for the season as it is now setting soon after twilight.
The Planet Jupiter will also be following Orion down to sunset, to close its evening observation for the year. The four-day old Moon, fresh after its Solar Eclipse, will be a nice sliver in the sky for observing its many craters.
Participants should dress warmly; bring drinks, snacks, and a flashlight with a red filter, if possible.
