To continue supporting Tucsonans experiencing economic distress, Mayor & Council voted unanimously to suspend transit fares through the end of the fiscal year (June 30th). The city received funds for public transit in the latest federal relief package that will help offset the cost. Mayor & Council will review fares again prior to June 30th.
My thanks to our Congressional Delegation for their support of public transit. For our transit system to truly be called “public” transit, it must be accessible to all.
Speaking of transportation, I also had the opportunity to speak with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg this week about our needs here in Tucson. He expressed his commitment to working with one another to explore new opportunities that will both improve local transportation and promote climate action.
