The Best Of Two Worlds

The most visited tourist destinations in Sonora

The Mexican state of Sonora is an incredibly diverse place that combines beaches with beautiful sunsets with historic towns and cities with architectural treasures and great food to create an unforgettable experience that offers both closeness to home and comfort. Here is a compiled list of just some of the hundreds of destinations that our neighbor state has to offer:

  • San Carlos: Perhaps the beach with the best panoramic views of the gorgeous Sea of Cortés in the state. As any place in Guaymas, the seafood here is second to none, and is also home to several other recreational activities like scuba diving, horseback riding, etc.
  • Hermosillo: The capital city of Sonora cannot go unnoticed in this list. Hermosillo is one of the crown jewels in the entire north of Mexico because of its great gastronomic value, nightlife, and attractions such as the Catedral de Hermosillo, Parque La Ruina, and neighborhoods like Villa de Seris.
  • Bahía de Kino: Kino Bay is another great choice because of its proximity to Hermosillo, being only about a two-hour drive away. In fact, it is common for many Hermosillenses to go, spend the afternoon, and come back all in the same day. Like San Carlos, Kino has great panoramic views and very swimmable waters year-round.
  • Alamos: One of Sonora’s “Magic Towns,” Alamos is a throwback to Mexico’s colonial period thanks to its stunning buildings, elegant past, and green hills surrounding it. This little town is full of extremely courteous people, which is only a small bonus to the experience of visiting an UNESCO World Heritage site.
