The Mayor and Tucson City Council yesterday, March 3, voted to extend the six-month pilot program for e-scooters by another six months to get a full year of data and allow time to address parking issues, rider behaviors, and other concerns before deciding whether to make the scooter program permanent. Council Member Steve Kozachik was the lone dissenting vote. The original pilot, which began last September, is scheduled to end on March 12. Approximately 37,000 individuals used e-scooters in Tucson during the initial five months of operation. As of Feb. 12, there have been 173,981 trips taken on Bird and Razor scooters.
