Former President Donald Trump finds himself in increasingly hot water over in the case of the mishandling of secret documents inside his residence at Mar-a-lago in Florida.
Special Counsel Jack Smith, an attorney from the U.S. Department of Justice appointed to probe into the issue, filed additional charges against the executive for allegedly instructing employees to delete security footage related to the investigation. If found to be actively obstructing justice, the penalty against Trump could prove significantly more serious than expected.
The first trial is set to begin on May of this upcoming year.
