Winter weather prompts warning from Tucson Water

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect tonight, Jan. 25, for parts of Southeast Arizona. The advisory begins at 8 o’clock and lasts through 5 p.m. tomorrow. Snow is expected, with total accumulations from 1 to 3 inches.

A dusting of snow is possible down to 2,500 feet, which includes the Tucson area. Be sure to protect yourself and your pipes, pets, and plants. Because of expected temperatures around or below the freezing mark for the next couple of overnights, the risk increases for exposed pipes and plumbing to freeze.

Tucson Water’s website offers tips to help prevent pipes, plumbing, irrigation systems, and backflow prevention assemblies from freezing. There is also information about what to do if something has frozen. The website and the English and Spanish videos linked below have preparations you can take to avoid broken water lines in your home or business.
