
The City of Tucson is accepting applications for police officer recruits. Applicants must complete their profile with the City of Tucson and submit a completed Preliminary Applicant Questionnaire by Oct. 5. Written examinations and physical fitness assessments will be held Oct. 24-25 at the Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave. The training process for a police officer is extensive.
A new police recruit will attend the academy for 22 weeks to learn the skills and functions of the job while under the guidance of experienced police staff.
The probation period is 18 months, and officers are required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Overtime will be required as necessary.
