In the wake of extreme heat with temperatures over 110 degrees this week, Mayor Regina Romero recently requested that City Manager Michael Ortega open cooling centers across Tucson. Six locations, one in each Ward, are open every day through this Friday, June 18, from noon-6 p.m. These cooling center locations (link below) will resume operations after Friday on any day when temperatures are expected to exceed 110 degrees. Masks are encouraged, and the centers will be operating at reduced capacity to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, the Tucson Pima Collaboration to End Homelessness (TPCH) has compiled a list of additional cooling stations and locations (link below) for water and supplies.
