Starting Monday, Feb. 1, City of Tucson residents no longer will be able to recycle glass in the City’s blue barrel program. This will not affect anyone living outside City limits. The City’s Environmental and General Services Department (EGSD) still will be collecting glass, but not at the curbside. Instead, residents should take glass bottles and jars to drop-off sites across the City. Glass collected will be crushed and reused locally. Bottles and jars are the only glass that will be accepted in the reuse program, and lids and caps must be removed. The glass must also be rinsed. Residents who can’t make it to a drop-off site should dispose of glass in their trash bins.
