We welcome the month of August with great hopes and faith that things begin to improve and that our community begins to heal in our economy, finances, business, education and especially in health.
I want to share with you that, in these last days of July, the Center for Disease Control (CDC), gave a national statement, where for reasons of the delta variant, states, cities, and school districts, are asked to put all their efforts in the use of the mask in closed places, for vaccinated and NOT vaccinated people. The delta variant is so contagious that vaccinated people can transmit the virus in the same way. So we hereby ask that we continue to protect ourselves, as well as our families. We remind you again that vaccines are available to everyone in different places in the county and city and if for any reason you cannot go, there is the option to receive the vaccine at home, if you are unable to visit any vaccine center, you will be provided the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. On the other hand, I want to share the great success we had with the annual event that Arizona Bilingual Newspaper makes available to our children and community. This past July 31st at the Tucson Convention Center was our 10th anniversary of the Kidz Expo & Back to School and it was a resounding success in all aspects. We had more than 3,500 people who attended the event and around 2,500 backpacks, school supplies, gifts from all sponsors, live entertainment, dances, singers, and many raffles, which all the children, as well as their families, enjoyed on this important day. A big thank you to our official presenter Tucson Electric Power, Tucson City Councilman for Ward 5, Richard Fimbres, and his team. Also, to congratulate the team of the Tucson Convention Center and Kate Calhoun, for the facilities provided for this great event. In the same way to our associated media who were a key piece for the dissemination of this great event. Also, to all our great sponsors, clients, governmental organizations, non-profit organizations, volunteers, and team work, who annually support us in this great event for children and their families. In this issue on the center pages, you will be able to see an overview of what took place on the big day!
We invite you to follow us on social media and in our written and online edition, we provide you with a lot of important day to day information, free resources, and gifts every day. Contact us with questions at: info@newsazb.com www.azbilingual.com (520) 305-4110
Finally, I ask that we all take care, health is very important. If your family, friends, and co-workers do not want to be vaccinated, remember that the vaccine saves lives and that many people who are no longer with us, did not have that privilege and we who have it, do not know how to take advantage of it. Hopefully we become more mindful and achieve immunity as a nation. May God bless us all!
Your friend and attentive servant.
Alma Gallardo
