The Best Of Two Worlds

Letter from the Editor

FEBRUARY 2022

Dear readers, year 2022 reaches its second month in a blink of an eye. A difficult start to the year with the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron, with very high rates of infection nationwide as well as in Mexico and other countries around the world. What has most surprised the health authorities is the rapid contagion of this variant despite the superhuman efforts to share the message to get vaccinated with regular and booster doses, as well as to continue with social distancing, washing hands and always using masks.

Fortunately, for many who have been infected and are vaccinated, the process has not gone beyond being isolated for 5-10 days, moderate side effects including sore throat, cold, headache and body aches, among others. On the contrary, there have been countless hospitalized people, including youths and children, who have not been vaccinated and even people who have died from this disease and its variants without being vaccinated.

Moral: I firmly believe that we must think as it cost nothing to follow the directions of health experts and protect ourselves individually, as well as protecting our loved ones, and become a stronger and healthier community (just saying!)

This February we celebrate the month of Love and Friendship, a date which unfortunately has been labeled as a consumer holiday and bombarded with advertising. When this date arrives, we must not forget the true meaning of love and friendship, which both must be planted, watered, care for and protected daily not just on this day. That is why, on this February cover, we present a couple that is an institution in our region, because of the love they profess, the commitment, the passion, the camaraderie, the ethics and the love for their family and the community in more than 50 years of marriage. It is easy to say, but it takes lots of patience, intelligence, affection, and care in a couple. They are Humberto & Czarina Lopez. I invite you to read their story in this issue.

In this edition, we also present a series of articles and relevant information, which is useful for daily life with family. I invite you to read them all, comment and continue supporting us as a local business, who is always on the lookout for our community and reporting daily through our online edition and social media.

Finally, I invite you to save the date for our eleventh anniversary of the Children’s Day festival, 11 years bringing joy to children and in this 2022 edition, we want them to be the protagonist of the event. So join us on Sunday April 24th at the Museo del Niño de Tucson, from 10am to 2pm. The museum is free all day! Thank you to Arizona Bilingual and presenters for this great event. For more information on how to participate, please contact us at (520) 305 4110 or by email at info@newsazb.com

As always, the best of life to all of you. May this day of love and friendship be a reason to give love, affection, and friendship to others!

Your friend,
