is currently conducting an asthma clinical research study called BARD (Best African Response to Asthma Drugs) and is reaching out to our community.
This study is being conducted because we know for some people, asthma doesn’t get better even when they take daily asthma medications, and this is often the case for Blacks/African-Americans with asthma. Blacks/African-Americans with asthma suffer higher death rates, experience more asthma-related urgent care visits, and report higher rates of hospitalizations due to asthma exacerbations. The purpose of this study is to find the best asthma treatment to add on for Blacks/African-Americans with uncontrolled asthma. This study will help us understand how we can better treat our Black/African American population and future generations with asthma.
For our study, we are looking for individuals with at least one grandparent who identifies as being of Black/African-American descent, are 5 years of age or older, and have asthma. Participants who qualify to enroll in the BARD study will be compensated for their time, travel, and asthma medications will be provided to them at no cost. If you know anyone who has asthma and would be interested in participating in this study or would like more information please call our office at:
