The Best Of Two Worlds

Dear audience

This month of October marks the beginning of the fall season, a season full of events and special holidays.
With the summer completely over, the nights will become longer and colder, but more fun nonetheless.
So, don’t let those cold nights spoil all the fun; be on the lookout for all the awesome October and November events, like the Dia de los Muertos
Celebrations, the Mexican Baseball Fiesta, and the Thanksgiving Festival 2019.
I want to take this opportunity to invite all of you to our upcoming event, the Thanksgiving Festival 2019, which will take place at the Clinica Medica Familiar November 23rd from 10am-2pm. This is one of our signature events in which, with support from our sponsors and partners, we will give away 1,000 turkeys to many families in Tucson.

Alma R. Gallardo

This is a FREE event, in which we will have lots of vendors giving away information and lots of free stuff! We will have medical entities giving free health information and medical supplies. We also have a full roster of entertainment with local artists and bands! So don’t miss this wonderful FREE event and bring your family and friends! Speaking of events, I wanted to recap our last event which took place this past September 29th, at the El Pueblo Center Parking lot where we held our first annual Walk for the Fight Against Breast Cancer.

It was a 1.8-mile trail that concluded in a big festival with music, fun, food, raffles, and mariachis! We also held workshops with information on emotional well-being and Cancer prevention led by experts in the matter. This was our first annual Cancer Walk and it turned out to be a success, but only due to the help from our sponsors and donors whom supported this wonderful cause, thank you!

On another note, I wanted to write about something that most of you must have heard by now, which is PROP 205, a Proposition which suggests making Tucson a Sanctuary City, this proposition wants to change the laws to protect immigrants in the city of Tucson, however it does come with concerns amongst many city officials, who warn us that this proposition, though well-intentioned, comes with a number of cons that would prohibit government agencies to work together with other law enforcement agencies on cases related to murder, rape, and theft; also, they warn that as
a sanctuary city, a big portion of the money we receive from the federal government would no longer come. We would like to ask our readers to find out more about Prop 205, and to learn more on the subject, weigh out the pros and cons, so that they can make an informed decision. We would also like to invite all our readers to write to us and share with us your opinions on the matter. If you are interested in being part of our events, need information, or have suggestions, write to us at editor@newsazb.com
