After three years following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, people have taken it upon themselves to compensate for the years lost in-doors and in quarantine by going out and traveling en masse according to data from the U.S. Travel Association, an organization comprised of members of the hospitality and travel industries in the country. Using data from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the report indicates that air travel in the United States is 3% higher now than in pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Likewise, travel spending is 4% above 2019 data. With 52% of Americans planning on leaving town for leisure within the next six months, we can expect these figures to continue rising as more people make up the time spent at home these last three years.
