The Best Of Two Worlds

Letter from the Editor

Letter from the Editor, November 2023

November is a month full of celebrations, the eleventh month of the year, just a few weeks before 2023 ends; where the time for reflection, love, and family coexistence arrives, the thought on how we can help others, and many community events to attend. November will pass us by flying and before we least think we will be starting 2024. Are we ready?

I stated that November is a month of celebrations: Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11. During this day, those who have served in the United States Armed Forces are honored.

November is National Native American Indian Month. It is a time to explore the history, heritage, traditions, and diverse cultures of indigenous peoples. The first celebration of American Indian Day was celebrated in New York in May 1916.

World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2006 with the adoption of the United Nations Resolution. It is celebrated each year on November 14, the anniversary of the birth of Sir Frederick Banting, who discovered insulin with Charles Best in 1922.

Thanksgiving Day, is celebrated every fourth Thursday in November, and in 2023 it will be Thursday, November 23. This date also marks the unofficial beginning of the Christmas holidays, with Black Friday taking place the following day.

What is Black Friday and how does it work?

Black Friday is when stores offer incredible discounts of up to 75%. These discounts only take place on Black Friday, which can extend up to a few days later, but you will not see this level of discounts during the year.

As you can see, November is a month of celebrations of all kinds; we are going to wait for them and celebrate them in the best way.

On the other hand, I want to tell you that this past October, we had some events from your favorite magazine, such as Latinas Negocios y Empoderamiento, Latinas AZ, with the last workshop of the year, a series of events that gave us the opportunity to educate, inform and share knowledge to our Hispanic entrepreneurs and business owners. I am very happy for the great success of these workshops.

Likewise, we are extremely happy, grateful and satisfied with the success we had in the annual walk for the fight against breast cancer this past October 29, where organizations such as Saabe, AZ, Arizona Bilingual, HSL Properties, and Pima County, as well as sponsors, collaborated to make this awareness walk possible and a great event full of support. All the attendees dressed in pink with an incredible attitude of encouraging and supporting others with this illness. Many people came together to help, share, support, and remember their loved ones who survived this fight, and others who had already lost the fight were remembered. Endless thanks to everyone who came and joined us.

Friends, follow us on our social networks; we always have local and regional information, free resources, and events in the community. Remember that we are the architects of our destiny; we must always help others without expecting anything in return.

Happy and blessed day of giving thanks to all of you and your families. We have to be united and enjoy the family!
