COVID-19 vaccination Help Line expands hours, staff

PIMA COUNTY, Jan. 25, 2021 – Pima County is expanding hours and staffing for its help line for COVID-19 vaccination registration.

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 26, the new hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, at 520-222-0119. Please update any charts/graphics that include this phone number.

The previous hours were 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The increased hours and the 25-person staff will ease current wait times and better handle the public’s strong interest in getting signed up for the vaccine, which is still in limited supply in Pima County.

The vaccination help line was set up when registration for the priority 1B groups – those 75 and older, educators, and protective service workers – became available in Pima County on Jan. 14.

The help line can assist those who need help registering or those who don’t have the capability to make any kind of appointment online, where an email is required to complete the process. Staffers can help callers navigate the system, set up an email or assist them with getting an appointment if they don’t have access to email or the internet.

The call center is set up in the Pima County’s Recorder’s Office.

“We’re so proud to be able to step up and assist the county with this important need,” said County Recorder Gabriella Cázares-Kelly.

“We were uniquely equipped to host a safe call center with socially-distanced, Plexiglas partitions and other COVID-19 safety measures in place immediately as we needed that setup to conduct signature verifications during the recent elections. Our site is safe and secure, and we are happy to contribute to the continued health of our community through the lending of this space.”
