El Rio Community Health Center has selected Nancy J. Johnson, PhD, as its new executive director. She has served as the non-profit agency’s chief operating officer since 2009 and as Interim CEO since July, 2015. She will succeed Kathy Byrne, who retired in July.
The decision was made by the agency’s Board of Directors after completion of a national search. Her appointment took effect at the end of October.
Pete Reisinger, board president, described the search as “exhausting” and said that “Nancy’s history with El Rio had been characterized by improving medical outcomes of our patients and our employees. Her heart beats to the mission of the clinic. The future looks bright with Nancy at the helm.”
Dr. Rajiv Modak, a member of the agency’s medical staff said “Nancy has a solid grasp of the issues that El Rio faces, and ideas for specific areas of improvement and innovation to help guide us into the future. She is extremely passionate about El Rio’s mission.”
Johnson holds a PhD in Health Sciences/Administration from Walden University and Master’s degrees in both Nursing (University of Illinois) and Marketing (University of Arizona Eller School)
