Arizona reaches alarming temperatures this summer and in hand with very few raindrops, wildlife animals seek water and fresh spaces to rest. Many Tucsonans have reported to see bobcats in their yard, for many this spikes terror, for others amazement and beauty.
Take a look at some characteristic traits of this exclusive creature and learn what to do if you encounter a bobcat.
- Unlike a mountain lion, bobcat attacks on humans only tend to happen if the bobcat is protecting nearby cubs or if sick. Don’t approach and respect its space.
- If you are close by, never turn your back on a bobcat, instead back away slowly and deliberately.
- Don’t run, this will provoke the bobcat into instinctively pursuing you.
- If a bob cat starts to approach you, start to make a lot of noise, or throw water at them, cats dislike this.
