The Best Of Two Worlds

Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler break up 3 years after Sedona graffiti scandal

Even though their love was briefly set in stone, it apparently wasn’t meant to last.

Actors Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler have reportedly ended their relationship after eight years of dating, according to Us Weekly. Neither has made a public statement since the news broke.

The couple made their mark on northern Arizona in 2016 when they apparently drew “Austin + Vanessa” on one of Sedona’s red rocks to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Hudgens shared the photo on Instagram.

Perhaps they didn’t know that’s illegal.

But some Instagram users knew, and they reported her post to Coconino National Forest officials.

Though Hudgens deleted the post, forest service officials sent her a citation telling her to answer for the misdemeanor in a Sedona court or pay a fine of $1,000. The “Spring Breakers” actress paid the $1,000 fine, which went to Friends of the Forest to be used to restore the damaged surface.

“Me and my boyfriend were on a hike and then wrote our names on a rock with another rock and people accused me (of) carving into this rock, but literally I took a piece of rock and wrote on the rock,” she explained on a radio show in 2017. “It’s chalk. If you rub it, it comes off. I knew that with the first rain it would go away.”

“It was really frustrating because I don’t mean to disrespect anyone or the land, and it’s not like I took a key and carved it. But I mean, I get it.”
