Letter from the Editor;

Dear readers, time flies and in just a few months, the year will be over. It’s amazing, sometimes I think life is going by too fast, but it’s just that we ourselves become more rushed. We just had a very hot election and Republicans are in charge of the Senate and House of Representatives and shall be headed by a single political party? At the end of the day, no matter what party we are, it is hard to accept that everything is in the hands of one party. We must have equality, especially in the decisions of government. That is why the media, will continue to inform and asks everyone who can already exercise their citizenship, that they do so. Do not waste any more time! Become a citizen!

On the other hand, whenever there is an election in this country and we are not exercising our vote, the bills, all services on education, health, community and others, tend to disappear if we do not vote for them. So forget the culture of our Latin American countries not to vote, here we must exercise our vote freely… It’s Time!

This November we welcome two very important events for our community, where the community will be present. Festival “Dia de Dar Gracias” / Thanksgiving Festival on Saturday November 22 from 10am until 1pm, at the facilities of Family Medical Clinic in Tucson on Ajo & 16th, Santa Cruz Plaza. We will be giving away turkeys to people over 21 years of the first thousand families that are present. There will be music, entertainment, food and many more surprises! Another event that is truly supportive is “Thanksgiving in the neighborhood”. This year will be a special, in memory of Don Pepe Barron, founder of Luz Social Services and much loved by our entire community. Thanks to Don Pepe and his wife Ceci, Thanksgiving in the Barrio in its sixteenth edition will be held on Tuesday, November 25 from 11:30 am-4:00pm, where Thanksgiving dinner is shared with more than 3,000 people, completely free! So join us at Pueblo Neighborhood Center, and help us render a true tribute to Don Pepe Barron, from all his friends and colleagues.
Please join us! Likewise, we invite you to the tenth annual Tucson Tamale & Heritage Festival on Saturday, December 6 in AVA Amphitheatre Casino del Sol Resort. This event will be from 10am until 5pm, where they will begin the Christmas festivities. Casino del Sol for 10 years has helped the community of Tucson and Southern Arizona, to sell and promote their tamales, besides participating in the judging for the various categories of best tamale. So if you are interested in participating, and set up a booth at this event, contact Laura Andrade at

Estimados lectores, el tiempo vuela y estamos a escasos mes y medio de que se termine el año, es increíble, a veces pienso que la vida es más rápida, pero es simplemente que nosotros mismos la hacemos más apurada y esto es parte del crecimiento y de la vida.
Acabamos de pasar unas elecciones bastante candentes y los republicanos están a cargo del senado y de la cámara de representantes, estará dirigida por un solo partido político; al final del día no importa de qué partido estemos, lo que sí es difícil aceptar es que todo esté en manos de un solo partido, debemos tener igualdad, sobre todo en las decisiones de un gobierno. Es por ello que los medios de comunicación, seguimos informando y pidiendo a todas las personas que ya puedan ejercer su ciudadanía, que lo hagan, no pierdan más tiempo, de verdad sale más económico hacerse ciudadano que volver a renovar su residencia. Por otro lado, cada vez que hay elecciones en este país y no estamos ejerciendo nuestro voto, las propuestas de ley, todos los servicios de educación, salud, comunidad y demás, tienden a desaparecer si no votamos a favor de ellos. Así que olvídese de la cultura de nuestros países latinoamericanos de no votar, aquí de verdad si podemos ejercer nuestro voto libremente, vamos haciéndolo…. Ya Es Hora!

Por otro lado, les invitamos este mes de noviembre a dos eventos muy importantes para nuestra comunidad, en donde dicha comunidad estará presente. Festival de Dar Gracias/ Thanksgiving Festival, el Sábado 22 de noviembre a partir de las 10am y hasta la 1pm, en las instalaciones de Tucson Clínica Médica Familiar en Ajo & 16th, Santa Cruz Plaza. Estaremos regalando pavos a personas mayores de 21 años de las primeras mil familias que estén presentes; habrá música, entretenimiento, comida y muchas sorpresas más! Otro de los eventos que de verdad apoyamos es Thanksgiving en el Barrio, este año será una edición especial en memoria a Don Pepe Barrón, fundador de Luz Social Services y una persona muy querida por toda nuestra comunidad. Gracias a Don Pepe y su esposa Ceci, Thanksgiving en el Barrio en su décima sexta edición se llevará a cabo el martes 25 de noviembre de 11:30am-4:00pm, en donde se comparte la cena de Acción de Gracias con más de 3,000 personas, completamente gratis! Así que acompáñenos en el Pueblo Neighborhood Center, en especial este año se le rendirá un merecido homenaje a Don Pepe Barrón, de parte de todos sus amigos y colaboradores, acompáñenos!

De igual manera, los invitamos al décimo evento anual de Tucson Tamal & Heritage Festival, el sábado 6 de Diciembre, en AVA Ampitheatre de Casino del Sol Resort. Este evento será a partir de las 10am y hasta las 5pm, en donde se dará inicio a las festividades decembrinas. Casino del Sol, por 10 años ha ayudado a la comunidad de Tucson y Sur de Arizona, a que vendan y promuevan sus tamales, además de participar en el sorteo de las diferentes categorías del mejor tamal. Así que si usted está interesado en participar y poner un puesto en este evento, comuníquese con Laura Andrade al 520-838-6716, ella les podrá informar acerca de este evento y como participar.
