Location selected for the Children’s Museum Oro Valley. Museum to open spring 2015!

The Children’s Museum Tucson announces the location of the future Children’s Museum Oro Valley. The Museum will be located at the Steam Pump Village Location selected for the Children's Museum Oro Valley.Shops, at 11015 North Oracle Road. The 3,300 square foot space will offer visitors daily programming and hands-on, interactive exhibits focused on early childhood education experiences with an emphases on art, literacy, health and wellness, science-based activities, and school readiness programming.

The Oro Valley location marks a milestone for the Children’s Museum Tucson as they create the first ever satellite location. Plans to bring a children’s museum to residents of Oro Valley and surrounding communities were first developed during conversations between the Museum and Mayor Satish Hiremath that took place in the winter of 2013. The Children’s Museum Oro Valley is projected to open in the spring of 2015 and anticipated start-up costs are $600,000. One third of the opening costs are being contributed by the Children’s Museum Tucson with an additional third being appropriated by the Town of Oro Valley. The Museum is currently seeking donors and partnerships from individuals and organizations alike to raise the remaining $200,000 needed to complete the project.

Children’s Museum Tucson serves more than 161,000 children and families annually who come to experience the fun, hands-on environment of a children’s museum. The exhibits, programs and special events invite the young and the young-at-heart to discover and explore the arts, sciences and humanities together in an environment that enhances these learning experiences.
