The Best Of Two Worlds

Outpatient Speech Therapy at Carondelet St. Mary’s

Being a parent doesn’t come with an instruction manual or even a brief pamphlet addressing the many questions that come up as your child develops. There CHVIseem to be plenty of family and friends around that can answer the questions that you have when your child is an infant such as, “Should I let her sleep on her back or her front?”, “When should I introduce rice cereal”, or the dreaded, “Is that color normal?”. As your child grows and the issues surrounding development become more complex, the number of questions that you have increase while the people adept at answering your questions decreases.

The Outpatient Speech Therapy Clinic at Carondelet St. Mary’s is here to help English- and Spanish-speaking Tucson families with their questions regarding their child’s development. The biggest concern that parents have about their child’s development is always “talking” and Speech Language Pathologists are regularly asked questions such as, “Why isn’t he talking yet?”, “Why am I the only person that can understand her?” or “Is she not talking because she hears English and Spanish at home and is confused?” The bilingual Speech Language Pathologists at St. Mary’s are here to help determine if your child’s speech and language development is on track by completing a formal evaluation and making recommendations based on the findings. More importantly we are here to answer all of your “speech” questions, help you come up with home activities that will help facilitate your child’s speech development, and model speech therapy techniques for you so that you can support your child’s speech development when you leave the clinic.

If you have a concern about your child’s speech development and he or she is 36 months old or older, the Speech Language Pathology team at St. Mary’s is here to support you and your child in English or Spanish!
