Calambres Comunes / Common Cramps

Heat cramps:

This occurs when you exercise or perform heavy labor in a hot climate without proper rehydration.
There is pain, muscle stiffness, palpation, and functional limitation.
Treatment options:
Remove patient from hot climate
Gently stretch the muscle
Massage the area to promote circulation
Drink fluids with electrolytes such as sports drinks or serum

Muscular cramp:
Usually they occur at night, after a day with higher activity than usual; they are less common during the day, with exercise. A restless movement or stretching will produce a hard contraction of a muscle (more frequent in foot or leg) that cannot relax by itself. The muscle is visible and it feels hard and painful. With a good massage and stretching, circulation will return, this can cause muscle to loosen but may be susceptible to more cramps that are less strong.

So, drink a lot of water and visit your doctor before you start a new diet or taking any medicine.
