Expect More Arizona General election on Nov. 8

Early next month, Arizonans will head to the polls to make their voices heard on everything from our next president to local school district bonds and overrides. Elected officials impact education in a variety of ways, from statewide decisions on funding to local determinations about curriculum.

Do you know how you’re voting? It can be hard to untangle the list of candidates and their positions on the varied issues, but it’s worth the time to ensure that a candidate’s position on education mirrors your own.

You can visit ExpectMoreArizona.org/Vote to find out who is running for office in your area. To find out where they stand on important issues, here are a few questions to consider asking:
How would you propose to increase overall education funding?
How do you plan to help schools recruit and retain quality teachers?
What are two ways you’ll support a quality early childhood education for all students?
Will you support the renewal of Prop 301, which expires in 2021?
How can we increase state funding for in-state public university students?
Where do you stand on restoring funding for Arizona’s community colleges?
How do you plan to support career and technical education programs?

In survey after survey, Arizona residents have repeatedly said that education and education spending are two of the most important issues facing our state. To support teachers and students, don’t let another election cycle go by without a vote for officials who will work to better our schools.
