Tell Us Your Story The Flores Family

Tucson’s First Family of Food, The Flores’ of El Charro Café and related brands, have been carrying the culinary torch for over 40 years now since it was passed onto them by their Great Tia Monica who founded El Charro Café back in 1922.  Considered the Oldest Mexican Restaurant in the America operated by the same family, the El Charro Café brand has helped open many doors for the pioneering Flores clan.

All 5 members of Monica’s great niece, Chef Carlotta Flores’ family work and operate various divisions in the hospitality sector.  As Executive Chef, Carlotta Flores oversees the culinary side of the businesses while her oldest son, Raymon operates as President of the companies. Her husband Ray Sr., operates as the head of construction and development while her son Marques oversees both the original downtown location and the newest chapter in the Flores growth plan; stadium operations. Candace, Carlotta’s daughter and the youngest oversees catering and the event facility known as The Stillwell House.

But the family involvement doesn’t stop there, both Raymon (Sasha) and Marques’ (Angela) wives play important roles in the day to day operations and accounting of the businesses while their aunts and uncles also fill in around the system as managers or controllers.  In total, there are nearly a dozen family members working within the over 10 unique locations of businesses and brands under the Flores’ management.

The brands that are part of the Flores Family group include; El Charro Café (4 locations in Tucson and an outlet at Talking Stick Arena), Sir Veza’s (5 locations in Tucson and Phoenix), Hecho en Vegas at The MGM Las Vegas, The Stillwell House, Pub 1922 in Sahuarita, Carlotta’s Kitchen their USDA Commissary, and Charro Steak, the newest restaurant that is coming soon to downtown Tucson.
And the future is looking good for continued family growth and development as Carlotta and Ray Sr. are proud grandparents to 5 beautiful grandchildren!

Arizona Bilingual Newspaper would like to recognize and congratulate the Flores Family for their contributions to the local economy in the cities of Tucson, Sahuarita, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
