JENNIFER BIGGS, RN named chief nursing officer of Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital

10CarondeletCarondelet St. Mary’s has named Sr. Director of Nursing, Jennifer Biggs, RN, as the hospital’s new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Biggs will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the hospital’s nursing department and its daily operations. As CNO, she will also work to align the nursing staff with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Chief Nursing Officers are charged with ensuring that patient care, clinical and staffing standards are met. They support and advice senior leaders on best practices in nursing and patient care, are involved in nurse recruitment, training and retention.

Since joining the St. Mary’s staff 17 years ago, Biggs has enjoyed a long and productive history in management and leadership at the hospital. Most recently, as Sr. Director of Nursing, she has been instrumental in the establishment of the Bridges Geropsychiatric Program, improving the hospital’s patient satisfaction scores and working with emergency department management to increase efficiencies and decrease door-to-doctor response times.

Noted for her exemplary “ethical integrity” and reputation as a “visionary” by fellow nurses, Biggs was selected as the Tucson Nurses Week Foundation’s Most Inspirational Mentor for 2014. She has served on Tucson Nurses Week Foundation Board of Directors since 2010 and as Secretary of that board since 2011.
