I am writing regarding your recent decision to consolidate the Tucson Processing & Distribution Center at Cherrybell and strongly urge you to reconsider. This proposed consolidation has caused widespread concern in our region because of the negative economic impact to the State of Arizona.
The Tucson Postal Processing & Distribution Center/Cherrybell plays a key role in Southern Arizona. Please allow me to elaborate:
Southern Arizona businesses, residents, veterans, and senior citizens rely on the Tucson Postal Processing & Distribution Center/Cherrybell for timely and reliable mail service, More tan 23,000 of our local businesses in Southern Arizona who may use mail order, send overnight packages, or simply operate their business would have to pay more for shipping and postage.
Moreover, this post office delivers everything from our veterans’ medications, to Social Security payments, to overnight or two-day delivery.
As the second largest city in the State of Arizona, Tucson needs the Cherrybell facility to opérate at full capacity going forward. A fully functioning Post Office is essential for our region’s economic growth and development. Postmaster General Brennan, we understand the problems you face, but consolidating the Tucson Processing & Distribution Center at Cherrybell may only generate more challenges for the Southern Arizona region.
